Actively transforming negativity

A quick search of the news reveals the ongoing wrangling of Brexit, stabbings, ISIS brides and so on and so forth. For the average person who is plugged into the mainstream, influenced by the media and consumerism and has no connection to any form of mindfulness, the world must seem to be a terrible place with very little hope for humanity. And even if you tell yourself you’re not affected, the constant stream of negative news is having an effect on our community spirit.

While we cannot deny some of the massive problems and obstacles facing us as a human race, I think it’s important to remember that every day amazing acts of kindness, hospitality and generosity are happening all around us on a monumental scale.

So what I urge you to do is find an anti-dote to the barrage of negativity and take a moment each day to remember that we humans are largely a wonderful bunch doing our best to live as good a life as we can.

Maria’s Midweek Mindfulness

Every day I remember that hundreds of local people generously donate to our shops for which I never forget to receive in a spirit of gratitude. And, every day I remember that there are a group of DRM Facilitators in a prison who are helping other prisoners.

The Wednesday Whisper

What amazing acts of kindness do you have gratitude for?

Would you be willing to send this out to anyone you think might be interested in getting a little dose of mindfulness each week?
