The Practice of Pausing

 

What would happen right now if you just stopped?

 

Whatever you are thinking or doing, as you read this message, focus on your mind, ask it to take a short break and now leave your mind. Move your attention out of your head and into your heart. Feel into it. How is your heart? Has it been included in your internal processes? Have you sought counsel from your heart? Or have all your actions been driven by thought from the mind, alone?

 

The mind will keep us on a treadmill. The heart will connect us to the bigger picture.

 

Pausing to include the guidance of the heart takes practice and bears much fruit. It connects me to the life force of the whole and then I can remember to let go of the mundane.

Dialogue Road Map training includes this practice of moving towards heart focus. When I’m in my full presence, I find I need my mind less and less. So I stay focused on connection to the life force that some call God or Allah and I call on my mind to serve as and when needed instead of being a servant to my mind.

Can you take a moment to feel your heart?

Can you hear your heart without interference from the mind?
