The Child’s Perspective
On a satirical note this week, I read this hilarious spoof article written from a child’s perspective of their parents. Trouble is, from what I see in my work, it’s quite near the truth.
The article is headlined, ‘Child realises parents haven’t got a f**king clue what they’re doing’, and continues with gems such as, ‘These people are absolutely fucking useless at most of the things they attempt to do. It’s almost as if they’re making it up as they go along’, followed by, ‘I’m not the one who drinks too much white wine then cries because I tried to trim my own hair and it went wrong’. You can read the whole article here.
Maria’s Midweek Mindfulness
When I think about some of my parenting gaffs, I feel embarrassed. Like the time I took out a film (remember video rental shops?) about Parenting which was supposed to be a Steve Martin Comedy but I managed to get out a different one that turned into a nasty film about a family where the parents killed and ate their neighbours. Try telling your very engrossed pre-teens that we have to turn it off now!! More seriously, with what I know now, I wish I could go back and undo some of my ridiculous rules.
