When the road to hell is paved with good intentions
For the last few years, as I dive deeper into the principles of nonviolence, I have noticed how a power play can be dressed up as democracy and how propaganda can masquerade as transparency.
The desire to retain control can manifest in a variety of ways. Even the most well intentioned are susceptible to corruption.
When the well intentioned cannot see the degree to which they have become corrupt because they are intent on a single minded purpose at any cost, manipulation becomes the norm and the collusion begins when the people choose the easiest or most comfortable option.
The result is a superficial democracy in which the majority comfort themselves that they are building something of worth. Colonies are a great example.
