In Da Hood

The most awesome hood of all

Yes, I am in the Hood. Sometimes it’s a painful place and other times it is sugar sweet. But I am always ‘repping my hood’.

Oh this ain’t no ordinary hood. This is a special type of hood.

I’m talking about Motherhood.

Motherhood brings out the best and the worst in us. It is the biggest mirror for reflection. It contains a history of magical moments and massive mistakes and a future of hopes and fears. In its right time and place and applied with love, mothering is a gift for the mother and the children.

Mothering applied inappropriately with people that are colleagues or peers can create dysfunctional relationships and dependencies that have the potential to become toxic. It’s easy to fall into the trap of mothering either as the initiator projecting onto someone we imagine to need it, or in response to a childlike adult who evokes the mother in us.

By the way, the same applies to Fatherhood too.

Awareness is everything.

The Wednesday Whisper

Have you mothered (or fathered) someone inappropriately? Did you look upon someone as a mother (or father) figure when they were not related to you in that way?
