Expectations and Adaptability

As 2020 comes to a close, the word that comes to mind is ‘adaptability’. The world never promised us anything and it doesn’t owe us anything. Therefore, this year has been a salutary lesson in checking our expectations. Some things I held as certainties for the direction of my life and work back in January, have evaporated as if they were never there.

For those of us fortunate enough to not be on the front line of Covid-19 and in good enough health, the greatest gift we can give those struggling is to be our most creative, our most generous, our most compassionate and our most adaptable in the face of uncertainty, so that we can improve society for when this pandemic passes as it surely will like everything.

Maria’s Midweek Mindfulness

There is a famous quote attributed to a few people, ‘nothing in life is certain except for death and taxes’. I’m taking a very different approach to planning 2021.
