Why workplaces are changing

As a woman of a certain age, I have occasionally been prone to disparaging ‘old lady thoughts’ about the ‘yoof’ of today. The so called ‘entitled’ Gen Z who, in the most recent display of dissatisfaction have started uploading videos taken of them being fired or resigning.

As I have watched these young upstarts making themselves known and letting us know what they will and won’t put up with at work, I have started to come around to the idea that they are starting a long overdue revolution at work.

The way they are doing it is not something I am aligned with, but the disruption to old industrial revolution thinking is to be welcomed. A time in which employees laboured under the indoctrination that they are replaceable and therefore required to be compliant when bullying, discrimination, harassment and sexual assault were swept under the carpet is coming to an end with a generation who do not share the same work ethic that deprives them of their imperfect humanity.

Business owners who want to stay ahead of the curve understand the necessity for change and embrace a new equitable way of communicating. Business owners who are oblivious will be forced into change by the employees and the law.

Maria’s Midweek Mindfulness

The DRM offers forward thinking employers a change process that is compassionate yet rigorous in its methodology. It creates the dialogue in which the boundaries of tolerance are set for the success of the business and the wellbeing of the workplace community.
