Can we ever have peace?

When people speak of peace, it’s important to define what we mean. In one version peace means quiet without disturbance, and for those lucky enough to experience it, there comes a sense of achievement. This could be inner peace or a peaceful environment.

Another version of peace has nothing to do with quiet. It has to do with achieving oneness with all that is. It is a calling to find our place in the ecosystem while treating all living things with love, and all resources with respect.

In a world of ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’, where persecution, discrimination and inequality is the way we have socially engineered the world, peace is unattainable. To believe otherwise is to deny, avoid and dismiss truth.

So on one hand, I can indulge in the peaceful moments that I permit myself to enjoy for moments or extended periods of time, and on the other hand there is no peace without justice, freedom, mercy, love and forgiveness for all.

The DRM helps us to be peaceful with the choices we make, and to become enlightened and aware about how we make our choices; what we choose to act on and what we decide to let go of. We do it in full awareness rather than from avoidance or aggression.

The Wednesday Whisper

Where do you find peace? What disturbs your peace? How do you disturb peace? What is peace to you?
